New Lights and Track Bar

Last night I got new tail lights from my brother for my birthday. I’m loving the look of these:

I also got the new track bar installed. That was a little bit of a job but not too bad. Had to use a big bar and some ratchet straps to get the front diff pulled into the correct location. We also stripped the old bolt out pretty bad when removing it so we had to stop and get a new one. Other than that, it went in pretty smoothly. It definitely got rid of the weird steering issues I had. It would knock when turning before and had a sort of delayed response on the highway – both of those are resolved now.

Finally we flushed the front diff. When we first got it installed we noticed there was some rust sitting in the bottom of the diff since it had been sitting without fluid for a year. When we pulled the plug we saw some metal shaving stuck to the drain plug so we went ahead and cleaned it up and put new fluid in it again. I’ll just have to keep watching it to make sure that was just debris in there from sitting and that it’s not actively tearing up my gears.

Today I got the new tires/wheels balanced. Went and had them mounted yesterday and the guys at Theisens told me couldn’t get the two shallow bolts out of the center caps and “were limited on tools” so they couldn’t balance them. Got them home and realized the two bolts he couldn’t get out were just plastic display pieces to even up the look of the cap – obviously he didn’t need to remove them. That made me decide to take the tires elsewhere to balance them. Took them to a little tire shop here in town and now I’m waiting impatiently for my black lug nuts to arrive tomorrow so I can get it all installed at once. I’m not a patient person so we’ll see if I make it through tomorrow …
