The Right Shade of Green

In the middle of figuring out this vibration issue with the XJ. I got axles put in it with new u-joint and I’m still getting vibes. But I’ll update on that when I have it figured out.

In the meantime, I decided I needed/wanted a riding lawnmower so I went and bought this for $420 that came with a snow plow and chains/weights:

1 - Craftsman

I ran that for about 2 weeks and decided it was the wrong shade of green. It just didn’t quite feel right. So, instead, I found a 1980 John Deere 317 that had just been repainted. It’s a one family owner (father bought it new in 1980 and then the son has had it for a few years since).

2 - Deere

Had negotiated it down to $750 and I went to go pick it up after dropping off the Craftsman. Started counting his money back to him and when I hit $700 he told me to stop. He told me he didn’t know if it would need a battery or not so he wouldn’t let give him the last $50. Then we stopped and talked about the XJ for about 20 minutes and his real nice 1978 Skylark. Just kind of made me realize how nice it is to live in a state where you can meet a random guy to guy a tractor, he basically negotiates himself down $50 and then has a nice conversation about our projects. All in all, it was a good day today!
